Stripe for Anonymous LLCs: Payment Processing (2026)

Stripe lets your anonymous LLC accept card payments online. It is a payment processor, not a bank, so it verifies your identity through KYC and pays out to a connected US business bank account. Here is exactly how it works and what anonymity does and does not cover.

Is Stripe a bank account for my LLC?

No. Stripe is a payment processor, not a bank. It lets your LLC accept credit and debit card payments online, then settles the money and pays it out to a separate US business bank account that you connect. Stripe never holds your operating cash the way a checking account does, and it does not issue you a bank account number for receiving wires or writing checks.

This distinction matters for an anonymous LLC. You still need a real business bank account, from Mercury, Relay, or Bluevine, as the destination for your Stripe payouts. Stripe sits in front of that account and handles the card transaction. Think of Stripe as the cash register and the bank as the safe.

Can an anonymous LLC use Stripe?

Yes. Stripe activates for anonymous LLCs formed in Wyoming, New Mexico, Delaware, and Nevada. Your state-level anonymity has no bearing on the Stripe application, because Stripe never reads your Secretary of State record. It verifies the business and its owners directly.

To activate a Stripe account, Stripe requires three things from your LLC: the EIN, a connected US business bank account for payouts, and identity verification of the beneficial owners. Once those clear, your LLC can charge cards under its own business name. The public-record privacy you get from an anonymous LLC stays intact, because none of the information Stripe collects is published.

What does Stripe require to activate my account?

Stripe runs its own Know Your Customer (KYC) check before it will process live payments. You provide the following:

  • The LLC's EIN and legal business name.
  • A connected US business bank account for payouts, in the LLC's name.
  • Beneficial-owner identity details: legal name, date of birth, address, and a government ID or passport for non-residents.
  • The last four digits of an SSN for US owners, or passport verification for non-resident owners.
  • A business website or product description and your expected volume.

This is why you are not anonymous to Stripe. Stripe collects and verifies who controls the business, exactly as a bank does. What stays private is the state record, not your relationship with the processor.

How much does Stripe cost compared to a bank?

Stripe does not charge a monthly bank fee. It charges per transaction: a percentage of each charge plus a small fixed fee per successful card payment. You pay only when you get paid, so a low-volume LLC pays almost nothing during a slow month. Confirm the current published rate on Stripe, because it varies by country and card type.

A business bank account works the opposite way. It may charge a flat monthly fee, or nothing, but it does not take a cut of each sale. The two are complements, not substitutes. You use Stripe to collect card revenue and a bank to hold and spend it.

Can a non-resident-owned US LLC use Stripe?

Yes. Stripe supports non-resident-owned US LLCs as long as the LLC is US-registered, has an EIN, and connects a US business bank account for payouts. You do not need to be a US citizen or resident, and you do not need to visit the US.

The practical bottleneck for non-residents is the payout account, not Stripe itself. You need a US bank that opens for non-resident owners first. Mercury and Relay both do this using a passport and an EIN, which makes them the natural payout accounts to pair with Stripe. Once that account is live, you connect it inside Stripe and payouts flow to it on the standard schedule.

What are Stripe Atlas and Stripe Treasury?

Stripe Atlas is Stripe's own company-formation product. It registers a US LLC or C-corp, files for an EIN, and sets up a Stripe account for a one-time fee. Atlas forms companies in Delaware by default and does not specialize in state-level owner anonymity, so it is a different product from an anonymous LLC. If public-record privacy is your goal, Atlas is not built for it.

Stripe Treasury is embedded banking that Stripe offers through partner banks, letting platforms build banking features on top of Stripe. It is aimed at software platforms serving their own users, not at a single LLC looking for a checking account. For a normal anonymous LLC, you form privately with Anonymousllc.co, open a bank account, and connect Stripe on top. That keeps formation anonymous on the state record and payment processing fully compliant.

How long do Stripe payouts take to reach my bank?

Stripe pays out on a rolling schedule once your account is active, moving settled funds to the connected US business bank account after a short clearing period. New accounts sit on a longer initial payout timeline while Stripe reviews early activity, then settle to the standard cadence.

The clearing window is risk control, not a penalty, and it mirrors how PayPal holds new-account funds. Clear it faster by completing identity verification, connecting the payout bank account, and giving Stripe an accurate business description and volume estimate before your first charge. A Mercury or Relay account linked from day one means the money has somewhere to land the moment the hold lifts. Confirm the current payout schedule on Stripe, because it varies by country and account history.

Is my LLC anonymous to Stripe?

No, and it cannot be. Stripe runs KYC on the beneficial owners, and the US business bank account that receives your payouts is bound by the Bank Secrecy Act and the Customer Identification Program. Under 31 CFR 1010.230, that bank must identify and verify every beneficial owner who holds 25% or more of the LLC. Between Stripe's own verification and the bank's CIP obligation, your identity is on file in two places.

Anonymity in an anonymous LLC means the public record. A Secretary of State search shows your registered agent, not you. Stripe and your bank know who you are, are legally required to, and keep that information private rather than publishing it. Anyone promising a Stripe account that hides you from Stripe is describing something that does not exist.

How does Anonymousllc.co set up Stripe with my LLC?

We form the LLC privately, get the EIN, and open the US business bank account that Stripe pays out to. That bank account is the piece most Stripe setups stall on, especially for non-resident owners, so we handle it as part of formation. Banking assistance is included in the price, with no separate fee.

Once your EIN and bank account are live, connecting Stripe is fast: you enter the EIN, link the bank account for payouts, and pass Stripe's identity check. We tell you exactly which documents Stripe will ask for so activation is not delayed. Formation is $397 all-in for Wyoming and from $347 total in other states, with banking and EIN guidance built in.
